In 2010, after a visit from my father to Amsterdam, who as a retired peony grower mentioned in passing how a Dutch company had planted a large operation with the intention to sea transport peonies, the idea was born.
If I'm honest, the Aunt Rosie peony farm has been a major part in a cunning plan devised to introduce my Dutch family to New Zealand.
I wanted my daughters to grow into Kiwis, with their formative years spent in rural Canterbury.
